Seriously: if you just want cheap carbs for today , you can make them at home with what you already have in your kitchen.

YOUR HOMEMADE GEL RECIPE (using only "homemade" ingredients)

Target per sachet: ~50–60 ml | ~30 g of carbohydrates | ~150–200 mg of sodium

Version using household measurements (without scales)

  • Honey : 1 and 1/2 tablespoons

  • Sugar (granulated or refined): 1 teaspoon

  • Table salt : a generous pinch (or ⅛ of a level teaspoon )

  • Water : 1–2 tablespoons (adjust until it becomes a “gel”)

  • Lemon juice : ½–1 teaspoon (just to adjust the taste)

This combination provides approximately 30g of carbohydrates (honey ≈ a mixture of glucose/fructose + sucrose from sugar) and approximately 200–240mg of sodium (depending on the amount).
Tip: If you want to get closer to ~200 mg of sodium , make the pinch slightly less than ⅛ of a teaspoon.

Version with scale (more accurate)

  • Honey : 25–32 g

  • Sugar : 4–6 g

  • Salt : 0.5–0.6 g

  • Water : 10–20 ml (until desired consistency is reached)

  • Lemon : 3–5 ml

How to make it: Mix sugar and salt in water, stir until dissolved, add honey and lemon, adjust the consistency. Transfer to a clean, squirtable bottle. We even have 3 bottles for this at Z2: the rigid one , the flexible one , and the ELITE one . If you're interested in buying these, use the coupon code blogvcb.

ATTENTION (fair play): hygiene and storage matter. Make it on the day and test it first with a light workout — homemade gel has no standardization or preservatives, and intestinal tolerance varies.

SO… WHY DOES Z2 EXIST?

Because true performance isn't just about sugar and salt.

  • Multi-carrier carbohydrate , designed for greater absorption with less discomfort during race pace.

  • Electrolytes calibrated for Brazilian heat (truly high sodium, with mineral balance).

  • Stable texture and osmolarity : it doesn't turn into syrup in the sun, and it doesn't "stick" in the mouth.

  • Flavors tested on a long run (goodbye to "sickly sweet" taste at kilometer 30).

  • Easy-open packaging that opens gently and won't leak into your pocket.

  • Quality, batch and safety : standardization and traceability — you run the work, we take care of the rest.

If you enjoy making your own gel, go for it — the recipe is right there.
If you don't want to go to all that trouble (and want the other assets that make a difference when time is of the essence), the Z2 is right here.

Sign up for a Z2 Pack and never skip nutrition on your long run again.

Either do your part today — but train tomorrow without excuses .
