Seriously: if you only need electrolytes today , you can make them at home with kitchen items.
Homemade Saltz (only "homemade" ingredients, no sugar)
Objective: To replenish sodium in a simple, quick-fix way for training.
“Saltz 500” version (≈ 500–600 mg of sodium)
For 500 ml of water:
-
Table salt (NaCl): ¼ teaspoon (~1.5 g of salt → ~600 mg of sodium)
-
Lemon juice: ½–1 teaspoon (just to lessen the salty taste)
-
Mix until dissolved. Drink throughout your workout.
Tip: If it becomes too salty, increase the water volume to 600–750 ml .
If you have a sodium restriction/kidney condition , do not use this preparation.
“Saltz 1000” version (≈ 950–1,150 mg of sodium)
For 750–1000 ml of water:
-
Table salt (NaCl): “almost” ½ teaspoon (~2.5–3.0 g → ~1,000–1,150 mg of sodium)
-
Lemon juice: 1 tablespoon
-
Mix until dissolved. Use on hot days and for long workouts.
Taste tip: more water = less salt on the tongue . Avoid making 1000 mg in only 500 ml — it will taste like "seawater".
Optional (homemade):
-
A tiny pinch of "light salt" (the kind used for cooking with potassium) can add potassium , but it changes the taste (it becomes more bitter). Use sparingly.
Complete transparency: it's homemade, works like "fast sodium," and has no standardization or purity/contamination controls . Make it on the day and test it first with light workouts.
Transfer to a bottle. We even have 3 bottles for this at Z2. The rigid one , the flexible one , and the ELITE one . If you're interested in buying these, use the coupon code blogvcb.
